This thing has power! For a big barge of a thing the 383 really freaking hauls! The sketchy pinion bearings had me staying below 40 mph but I had them fixed it was time for the open highway! But I did have a bit of a problem that I'd like your advice on.

This thing is freaking everywhere when the road gets bumpy. Cracks, potholes and manhole covers send this thing all over the lane. It's on fresh radial tires and the suspension is all good and tight. Perhaps it needs an alignment?

Other than that, it's the single most relaxing driving experience I've ever had. Effortless power, big-block burble in the background, cool air rushing up you leg from the floor vent and the smoothest ride this side of a vintage Rolls Royce. This thing is a mile muncher. (Even if it gets about 9 mpg)

Alignment would be my first thought. At a guess you have too much toe in, that makes a car really darty.

My thoughts too, maybe the suspension when compressed makes the toe go farther in, making the car sketchy.

It's gotta be huge when you're stopping 4,500 pounds with manual 4-wheel drums!

I would go for alignment first then I'd check the wheels themselves.

A former friend of mine had a similar issue with a 70 Marquis.

It turned out that the "runout", for lack of a better term was out of spec.

The wheels just wore out basically.

A new set of wheels and it was like a new car.

It would be nice if you told us the model and year of your Chrysler. And maybe a photo of the car.

I post my car up all the time haha but it's a 1969 Chrysler Newport with a 3832BBL. I bought it for $1,700/

Interesting. The wheels are 45 year-old MoPar steelies so it's possible.
